Since October 2003, The
Regional Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (RASAP) has been a recipient of
the Drug-Free Community Support Grant made possible by the White House Office of
National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). Approximately 700 communities throughout
the
United States
receive up to $100,000 per year for substance abuse prevention in their area.
In
Danville
and
Pittsylvania
County
, RASAP allocates their funds to seven partners to provide substance abuse
prevention programming to over one thousand youth. Additionally funds are also
used for the coalition to promote national days such as Eat with Your Family
Day, Red Ribbon Week, and National Night Out.
